bAbout Our Sculptures... Design, production, and finishing are all done at our own facility in Durham, North Carolina. We have complete hands-on control of quality in every respect. All Sculptures are hand-crafted of 1/4" steel. The sculptures are fabricated, shot blasted, flame sprayed with zinc and painted with a high quality two part epoxy base paint. This weather proof finishing technique results in a highly resistant coating that prevents oxidation.Minimal maintenance - wash with mild soap and water to remove environmental grime. Solid materials insure durability, stablity and resistantace to the elements. Mounting holes are provided on the base. These painted pieces of artwork last 50-75 years without rusting. Many are sold to ocean-front homes and the salt spray does not affect the finish.
The delightfully whimsical sculptures are shown in painted - weatherproof steel or rusting Cor-Ten steel. Designed by internationally renowned sculptor Don Drumm. Cor-ten is the all-weather steel used to build bridges. The metal will form a layer of external rust, stopping the oxidation process so the internal structure will last virtually forever.
